What happens if my photo ID won't scan on my marriage license?

Manual ID Verification - Fix uploading issue
1

Start the ID Verification Process

After filling out your marriage license application, the County website will prompt you to verify your ID.

👉 A QR code will appear on your computer screen.

2

Scan QR code with your phone

Use your smartphone to scan the QR code. This will open a secure link on your phone to continue the ID verification process.

3

Upload your ID and selfie

Take a clear photo of the front and back of your government-issued ID (Passport, Driver's License, or Military ID). Then take a selfie photo to match your ID.

If this works, you're done!
4

If it fails — fill out the Manual ID form

If the automatic system doesn't verify your ID, you'll be redirected to a Manual Identity Verification Form.

Enter your full name, date of birth, and email, then re-upload photos of the front and back of your ID.

Next, record a video saying:

"I am [Your Full Name]. My date of birth is [MM-DD-YYYY]. I am applying for a marriage license to marry [Their Full Name]. I have captured images of my government ID showing my correct legal name and date of birth."

5

If upload fails — Email it

If your photos or video don't upload in the form or take too long, email the ID photos and video directly to marriage@utahcounty.gov, then wait for their confirmation.
